Let’s Learn About Compost! Tue, 21 Jul 2020 20:59:58 +0000 Want to learn about Compost?

Parents from all classes, join the 3 & 5 – Day Classes as we learn about compost, what it is, how it is made, what it is used for, and why it is so important in helping our environment!

Mother Compost owner, and local Wynnewood mom, Gwenn Nolan, will teach us all about compost.

Gwenn will be bringing mini compost “bins” for our classes to practice composting in the classroom during the following week!

She will also have finished compost on hand for us to see and touch.

We will be feeding our spring bulbs with compost this year, and will watch in the spring for its magic powers to (hopefully) shine!

This is a great opportunity for parents who are interested in composting at home to chat with Gwenn over a cup of coffee and light refreshments while waiting for their child’s class to plant.  Gwenn’s local business makes composting a snap!

November 2019

I am grateful to you all for coming out to Back to school night and supporting the School by purchasing books and or cards from Usborne.

Thank you to Copley Read for your hard work to set-up this beautiful event. This fundraiser helped to stock the classrooms and fulfill the teachers wish lists, additionally we raised over $300 from the card sales which will be put towards the future improvements on the playground.

Thank you all! It was wonderful to see all the support from the parents and caregivers for our annual bulb planting. We are grateful to all the parents, grandparents and caregivers. and the rain for feeding the bulbs.

Thank you to Christina Nicolosi for arranging the composting seminar and for coordinating the materials for bulb planting. The Pumpkin Farm visit to Sugartown Farms was just a perfect cloudy (rain held out) day for a hayride and pumpkin picking as well as finding our way through the hay bale maze.

For Halloween, another perfectly auspicious day We enjoyed seeing all of the children in their adorable Halloween costumes. What fun and successful parades and parties.!

Please note daylight savings time, please turn your clocks back on NOVEMBER 2nd and NO SCHOOL ON ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, November 5th.

Nicole will lead these interactive free workshops covering topics such as sleep, mealtime, behavioral challenges and building independence just to name a few.

There will be time following the presentations for questions and conversation with fellow parents.

The first one held on October 22 was very successful so if you enjoyed the first one please come again and if you couldn’t make it to the first one please come to either one or both of the remaining seminars.

This event will be held November 14th for the 3 and 5-day classes and November 15th for the 2-day class.

You will receive a flyer this week with the details of this event. This event has taken place here for over 50 years and will continue with your help.

We will feast upon the cookies made by the 3/5 day classes after our thanksgiving program.

The 2-day class will have theirs to eat in class and take any extras home.

This event will be held on November 26th at 9:30 AM in the Memorial Chapel.

Our program performed by the 3 and 5-day classes revolves around a general theme of thankfulness.

We invite each child to bring a non-perishable food item to help our food cupboard which supports the needy in our own community.

After the program we will adjourn to Fellowship Hall to share our gingerbread cookies! Blessings to all of our preschool families,

Thank You! Tue, 21 Jul 2020 20:24:13 +0000 Good Afternoon APWPS Families,

I want to thank you for all your patience and support as we navigated through the end of this school year. I  need to thank all of our teachers who worked so hard after being thrown into this new virtual environment.

I also want to thank the Parents Group Leaders, Jody Staples, Christina Nicolosi , Copley Read and Lauren Spear who all helped to make this school so special from bulb planting, to grandparents days and all the classroom activities in between.

This new way of learning brought many challenges for all of us from technology issues, disruption to routine, facing fear and anxiety to managing our families both old and young.

However we managed to pull through as a strong community and even experienced a wonderful car pool graduation. I just want you all to know that the staff and I are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with your children.

I pray that the world heals and that someday soon in the near future we will all be able to give hugs and high fives! Blessings to you all for a healthy summer.

Stay strong in body, mind and spirit!  Blessings,  Michelle

Update June 26,2020 Tue, 21 Jul 2020 20:11:00 +0000 Good Afternoon APWPS Families,

In an effort to maintain transparency, we are dedicated to keeping you informed as we work hard to evolve our program in this changing world. You will receive periodic emails containing information regarding reopening specific to our program.

Today, We have officially entered the green phase of COVID-19.

What does this mean for the preschool?

Childcare can open with guidance and schools will open subject to the guidance of Pennsylvania and the CDC  while following LMSD.

What does this mean for APWPS:

  1. We are  working on our program allowing us to provide an in person program for all classes.
  2. We are reinventing a good deal of our outdoor space (we have a lot) to keep everyone as safe as possible while encouraging socialization.
  3. The curriculum will adapt more outdoor activities to coincide with the academic portion of the curriculum.

We remain committed to working hard this summer to give you the best possible program under the new ever changing safety guidelines.

It will take a commitment from us all to make this work. Please continue to pray for a healthy peaceful world.

Stay Safe, Stay Strong, Michelle and Irena
